- The Wild Lather Story
Inspired by sunset at the 12 Apostles limestone rock formations off Australia's Great Ocean Road, the wild harvested alkanet root in this triangle makes the color ever-changing, turning from a deep shade of lavender to dusty rose over time. California olive oil - produced by the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation in Capay Valley, CA - unites with coconut oil, camellia oil, castor oil, shea butter, and a touch of kaolin clay for a deeply nourishing and gently exfoliating bathing experience. Wild Lather's sweetest and most floral triangle with notes of wild lavender, vibrant bergamot, bright lemon, and a touch of organic geranium creates a scent that is reminiscent of flowering jasmine hanging in the air on a summer's evening walk.

Lather up + breathe deeply.
Founded in 2018 by partners Liz and Conrad, Wild Lather found its way into being as an ode to their travels. On their last day of an epic trip, they were standing on what felt like the edge of the world, cliffside at Muriwai Beach, New Zealand. Their rental car doors were open, music was playing, and they looked down at the black sand beach, trying to wrap their minds around the journey that was ending. That was their last destination after living out of suitcases for the past eight months - just the two of them - planning as they went along. They had no idea what to expect when they boarded the flight back to Boston the next day. They had both quit our jobs, left their lease, and weren't sure that they'd ever feel that happy again.
During that flight, Liz thought about the people and places they met. The makers, bathers, and surfers along the way. She also thought about the beautiful landscapes she could barely comprehend, and in contrast, a glacier that had retreated so far back you could now stand on the stone it once covered. Liz thought about how everything she needed could fit into a single suitcase when utilizing simple, multi-use products. That realization made her feel more connected to herself and the environment. Lastly, she thought about her soap making hobby. How relevant this time-honored method of bathing with plants suddenly felt. Somewhere over the Pacific Ocean, everything changed.
That summer Liz obsessively researched, sourced, and tested the ingredients for a multi-use bar soap that was gentle and nourishing. A bar made from organic plants and free of palm oil and synthetic substances. As she poured myself into it, scent nostalgia crept in and memories from their adventure began to form essential oil blends. By December 2018, Liz and Conrad launched Wild Lather. And that bar turned out to be a triangle.
For every batch, they take their nourishing blend of five organic plant oils: California Olive, Shea Butter, Coconut, Camellia, and Castor, saponify them, then combine them with naturally occurring clays and solar-infused botanicals. They then swirl in a house-blend of steam-distilled essential oils and allow them to air-cure for one month. A time-honored process that's so worth the wait. Made in their sunny, southern California studio for full body bathing, shaving, intermittent face cleansing, and sustainable travel. Breathe deeply, friends.
