- The Marble & Milkweed Story
A walk in the deep woods. This blend evokes the spirit of the forest with organic heirloom pu-erh, organic lapsang souchong, wild-harvested douglas fir tips, juniper berries, and the delicate woodland character of blackberry and violet leaves. Aromatic and earthy, with a touch of smoke, this blend is the perfect companion for a brisk morning.
2oz of loose tea - makes approximately 18-20 servings

Marble & Milkweed was founded by Briar Winters, who grew up in Washington State where her early experiences outdoors and in the garden inspired a continuing desire to live in harmony with the earth. After a decade spent in pastry kitchens in New York City, she felt called to take her skill in seeking out and creating with exquisite raw materials in a new direction, channeling the energy in her work towards supporting health, beauty, and well-being in the world. Much of her work with Marble & Milkweed is informed by her time in these pastry kitchens - especially the intense focus on sourcing beautiful, pure botanical materials, the alchemy of scent, as well as by years of self-guided research in plant-based skin care. She believes that there is a real kinship between the apothecary and the kitchen.
Marble & Milkweed is inspired by the poetry inherent in any well-crafted thing. Disarmingly analog and made carefully by hand in New York City, Marble & Milkweed products are designed to simplify the way you care for yourself. Briar is deeply committed to sourcing organic and fair-trade ingredients, as well as working directly with farmers and small family farms whenever possible.
Briar is also deeply conscious of the impact that packaging of all kinds has on the environment and strive to reduce unnecessary materials. She packages all her products using recyclable and reusable light-protective violet glass jars, and ships packages using fully recyclable paper tape, biodegradable clear packing tape, and fully recyclable shipping labels (including the backing paper, which is not recyclable on most labels). In addition, all soft paper goods (like the 100% recycled paper towels used in production) are composted at the local community garden on the Lower East Side. She’s also begun to recycle the nitrile gloves used to keep product in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices via Terracycle, and the Marble & Milkweed studio is powered by renewable energy.
Marble & Milkweed is proud to donate a portion of their profits to support the work of Butterfly Project NYC.
