Kava Moon Ghee

Belly of the Sun

Kava Moon Ghee

$39.00

A moon-time supportive, aphrodisiac, and relaxing blend, Kava Moon harmonizes plant allies with a strong affinity to the sacral and heart chakras and was formulated as an ally during a woman's sacred moon time, relieving cramps, helping us drop into our heart centers, and getting things moving along in the inner realms. The foundation of this ethereal creation is kava kava: a consciousness-shifting root long-revered in many island cultures of the Pacific, where it is historically and currently alchemized into a drink imbibed for ceremonial purposes (even for conflict resolution!). The root is traditionally prepared by chewing and then mixing with coconut cream/milk (i.e. healthy fat activation!) and elicits a superficial numbing sensation, soothing frazzled nerves, allowing us to sink deep into a restorative place, even activating a delta brain wave state. Its muscle relaxing and analgesic properties help to ease pain, especially during a woman's moon time. And with a flavor profile that could be described as a "dirty" chai that's sweet, warming, earthy, and slightly pungent, we love to commune with Kava Moon on toast, blended into as coffee/hot chocolate, as frosting, or simply by the spoonful!

Belly of the Sun’s ghee is handcrafted on an open flame, per tradition, and made in small batches to ensure perfection. Co-created with USDA-certified organic, vat-cultured butter from local Northern California family dairies committed to pasture-raised practices, Belly of the Sun ghee is incredibly nutrient-dense: loaded with vitamins A, D, E and K, conjugated linolenic acid (which is indicated to slow the progression of heart disease and some types of cancer), butyric acid - a fatty acid that is deeply supportive of the gut's microbiome and gastrointestinal health, and Omega 3 and Omega 9 fatty acids, which have been indicated as crucial to proper hydration and are crucial for mama and baby’s health during pregnancy and lactation (Omega 3s are particularly depleted during this time). And with a smoke point of up to 480 degrees, this kitchen staple is as nourishing and nutritional as it is versatile.

8oz

handcrafted ghee,* kava,* ginger,* raw local honey, cinnamon,* vanilla*

*organic

Try it on toast, blended into your coffee/hot chocolate, as frosting, or simply enjoy by the spoon!

DOSE: start with 1 teaspoon and increase to 1 tablespoon on an as-needed basis. For most people, kava can be relaxing without causing sedation. Please observe its effects on you before driving or operating heavy machinery, as every body is different! It is not recommended to consume daily for longer than 3 weeks at a time.

Warnings: can cause liver damage in high and frequent doses. Not for use during pregnancy or lactation. Not for use in individuals with a compromised liver or liver disease. Do not take kava with alcohol. Consult with a healthcare provider prior to use if taking any prescription medications. Honey should never be given to babies under one year old.

Founded in 2021 by Sheerlie Ryngler, Belly of the Sun found its origins in an herbal ghee making class offered by the creators of Kosmic Kitchen at the Spirit Weaver's Gathering in the summer of 2017. A tad obsessed with creating ghee ever since, Sheerlie infuses her training as a folk herbalist into her line: offering next-level botanical ghee in which she sources plants + herbs from local farmers (and soon her own medicinal herb garden!). Crafted in a commercial kitchen utilizing exclusively stainless steel equipment (Sheerlie is also a Food Safety Manager in the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals), Belly of the Sun ghee is the manifestation of Sheerlie's wholehearted belief in the power of food as medicine...and she was delighted to discover that clarified butter (semneh) is an ancient tradition from her own matrilineal Moroccan heritage.
