Sea Change Cleansing Balm

The Intention

Gentle hydrating and nourishing cleanser

A skin-softening cleansing balm that easily melts away makeup and sunscreen, then converts to a clean-rinsing milk. Lush hydration courtesy of moringa and meadowfoam seed oils. Sal and shea butters help re-establish skin's barrier function. Fennel seed, grapefruit, and chamomile oils balance sebum, calm inflammation, and liberate lymphatic stagnation and puffiness. A wonderful nightly deep cleanse that targets dry, dehydrated, puffy, aging, and delicate skin. Sea Change is a multitasker: we also love using it as a facial massage medium or a deep moisture mask.

The Ingredients

sal butter, shea butter, meadowfoam seed oil, virgin moringa oil, di-PPG myreth-10 adipate, glyceryl stearate & cetearyl alcohol & sodium stearoyl lactylate, castor oil, essential oils of fennel seed, grapefruit peel & roman chamomile

italic denotes organic ingredient

The Ritual

Apply a pea-sized amount to dry skin. Massage in thoroughly. Wet hands and massage in a bit more. Watch it transform into a clean-rinsing milky liquid. Rinse off with water (in the shower or at the sink). Use a damp washcloth to remove.

Pro Tip: sea change makes a great hydrating mask - apply a thick layer to clean skin, leave on 30 minutes (or overnight) and remove with a warm compress. It's also a perfect massage medium - apply a peanut-sized amount and use your favorite tool (gua sha, roller, hands), then rinse off and follow your regular routine.

The Heart of Gold Story

Heart of Gold is the life path of herbalist / esthetician / massage therapist / intuitive Ally Draizin. She believes there are no miracle products, but there are magical products. Every Heart of Gold product is made by hand in Heart of Gold’s Portland, Oregon studio: infused with vibrational medicine, intuition, loving intention, and nutrient-rich whole plants sourced with integrity - many from small, local farmers. Extracts are vibrantly and lovingly brought into being in-house, and many hydrosols used in Heart of Gold’s creations come to life in Ally’s copper still. Ally also uses the discernment of 22 years as an esthetician to manifest products that feel good, smell good, and work beautifully.

Ally believes that self-care is an act of love…a benediction. And that to make real, lasting change in our skin, we need to look closely at our lives as a whole. The real transformation comes from learning to listen to our bodies and being tuned in to and receptive of our body’s needs. Her work comes from the heart…an expression of unconditional love. And if she could recommend one product? She wouldn’t. She would recommend a good night’s sleep, a 10 minute meditation, and a big glass of water.

Her goal with Heart of Gold is to bring more love, compassion, and gentleness into your life. Her goal isn’t to heal your skin, your skin has an infinite capacity to heal itself. Her goal is to connect your skin with its own infinite healing ability.

Ally’s Golden Rules (we love these so much!):

Your relationship with the world is a reflection of your relationship with yourself. Allow room in your life for self care. Love yourself, seek new ways to be kind to yourself.

The health of your skin is a reflection of the health of your whole being. Your skin can be a barometer of physical & emotional well-being. Learn to listen to your body, and allow that awareness to be your guiding compass.

Zen philosophy encourages us to be fully present in every moment. Enjoy the time you are given. Incorporate the things that nourish your soul & bring joy into everyday life.

Nothing is chemical-free. Even an empty bottle contains chemicals (air is a chemical). Aim for authenticity, in your actions, in what you consume, in your life. Stay centered in your intuition, be realistic, and always consider the source.

Ask not what plants can do for you, but what you can do for the planet. Be a caretaker of our fragile ecosystem. This should be an integral part of the green beauty movement. Don't seek to acquire, to consume. Seek to connect, to soften. Allow your own beauty, and the beauty of the world around you, to sustain your heart.
