The Salt

Pineapple Collaborative

The Salt

$30.00

Produced in partnership with Sarela Herrada of SIMPLi and Yolanda Acurio Mendoza of the women-run co-op Comunidad Salinera de Maras - at which salt has been harvested since pre-Inca times using the same fundamental techniques passed down from family to family over hundreds of years - this blush pink salt from ponds high in the Peruvian Andes is harvested by hand from a subterranean stream that flows through a natural spring into channels leading down to terraced salt ponds to retain superior mineral content. Its mild taste and medium grind size – between fine kosher salt and crunchy finishing salt – make The Salt a versatile addition to any pantry, enhancing the flavors of all your favorite dishes. And housed in a beautiful bespoke ceramic vessel, this nourishing offering is a stunning addition to any countertop.

3oz

Salt

Sprinkle on your favorite dishes as desired.

Note: to close the vessel, while applying downward pressure, twist the lid until flush. The rubber gasket is also removable. We recommend recycling the gasket after purchasing for an even more seamless experience. Simply peel off and discard for an even easier open and close experience.

Pineapple Collaborative started as a simple potluck dinner with friends in 2015. At the time, brands everywhere seemed to be on a mission to “build community,” yet they never really felt welcome. So the founders decided to start the kind of community they wished existed and to show up where it counts: in your kitchen, online, and in real life.

Back then, Pineapple was known as “Pineapple DC” and its founding team-- Ariel Pasternak, Raisa Aziz, Ann Yang, Maddie Morales, Jordan Miller, and Atara Bernstein-- hosted events across Washington, DC spotlighting incredible women in food and building community. As their momentum grew, Pineapple DC became Pineapple Collaborative-- expanding events to New York, the Bay Area, and Los Angeles while launching digital content too.

Today, Pineapple is led by Ariel and Atara, Dani Dillon, and many others who contribute in ways big and small to create this thriving community.

In the Fall of 2019, they launched their first products based upon their founding principle that food is more than just what’s on our plates— what we cook and eat reflects our unique styles, identities, and values. They're on a mission to connect and celebrate people who love food —to cook it, to eat it, to learn about it, to share it. They use their buying power to support exceptional women farmers, creatives, producers, leaders, and chefs...and are deeply committed to sustainable and regenerative agriculture.
