The Best Homemade Granola

If you were to ever have something well-stocked in your pantry for quiet mornings and a cozy kitchen, this homemade granola would be it. The perfect topping for yogurt, a delightful companion to milk, or a treat all on its own, this irresistible and incredibly easy-to-make granola is the very best. A major plus? It's also packed with antioxidants, B vitamins, and magnesium. Delicious and nutritious: yes, please. And, to top it all off, it's super family-friendly and beloved by kiddos - our founder Sara's daughters request to always have a batch on hand.

Bonus tip: package a cup or two of this homemade granola in a mason jar, adorn it with some twine, a name tag, and maybe even some pressed flowers, and you've just created a heartwarming gift to bestow upon a loved one.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups rolled oats (we love One Degree Organic Foods Sprouted Rolled Oats)
  • 2 cups raw nuts and seeds (we love a combo of pumpkin seeds, almonds, and walnuts)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1.5 teaspoons vanilla powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup coconut flakes
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup dried fruit (we love dried cherries, but cranberries work great too)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350*F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the oats, nuts, seeds, salt, vanilla, cinnamon, and coconut flakes. Stir to combine.
  3. Create a well in the center of the dry mixture and slowly pour in olive oil and maple syrup. Mix well until everything is lightly coated.
  4. Pour the granola onto your parchment-lined baking sheet and spread it into an even layer.
  5. Bake until lightly golden, between 25-35 minutes depending on oven, stirring halfway through. The granola continues to get even crispier as it cools.
  6. Remove from oven and allow to completely cool (about 45 mins - 1 hour).
  7. Top with dried fruit.
  8. Store the granola in an airtight container at room temp for 1-2 weeks or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
